Piñata points are subject to expiration under certain conditions, outlined below. Our Piñata point expiration policy is designed to ensure fair use of the rewards program while maintaining flexibility for our members.
1. Fraudulent Activity
Piñata reserves the right to immediately expire any points obtained through fraudulent or dishonest activity. This includes, but is not limited to, improperly gaining, earning, receiving, or acquiring points in violation of Piñata’s terms.
2. Account Deletion
All points expire immediately when an account is deleted, regardless of membership status.
3. Free Membership Accounts
Points earned on a free membership expire 6 months after the date they are awarded.
If points were originally earned while on a paid membership and the account later moves to a free membership, those points will begin a 6-month expiration countdown.
Members who upgrade from a free plan to a paid plan may reclaim expiring points if the upgrade occurs within 60 days of the downgrade or program exit.
Special Case: Landlord Rewards (LLR) / PMC Programs
Points earned through any paid program do not expire while the account remains paid.
If a member exits a Property Management Company (PMC)–sponsored paid program, the account moves into a free membership state.
At that point, free-membership expiration rules apply, including a 60-day grace period before expiration countdowns begin.
4. Paid Membership Accounts
Points earned on paid accounts never expire.
This includes:
Direct-to-consumer (DTC) paid memberships
Paid memberships awarded through partnerships or employer/PMC programs
Payment Lapse & Delinquency
Members on paid multi-month plans who stop paying are not immediately moved to a free membership.
After a 60-day grace period, the account transitions to a free membership, at which point expiration rules for free accounts apply.
Delinquent PMC-paid accounts may be subject to review.
