How do I sign up? (I am linked with my property management company or landlord)

1. If you are enrolled in credit engine by your landlord or property management company, we still need some information to get you started.

2. IF your property management company includes Piñata Credit Engine as part of their resident benefits package:

2a. Navigate to the Credit Engine home screen. You can find this by selecting the Credit tab at the bottom of the home screen.

2b. On the home page of Credit Engine, select the button near the top that says 'Activate'.

2c. On the next screen, you'll be asked to enter your Personal Identifying Information twice. Once you've done so, select 'Continue'.

2d. The next (and final) step of identity verification is a face match to your government issued identification card. These can include a passport, a driver's license, state id, or other government issued id (student IDs will not work for verification).

2e. On this screen, you'll see two steps. The first is to take a photo of your government issued id. Place it on a table or other flat surface with ample lighting and center your id with your camera. You don't need to press anything, just make sure that the camera can see everything clearly. Once we have captured your ID, you will see text at the top of the screen that says, 'Processing'.

2f. As soon as it has finished processing, you will be redirected to the previous page, but you will see now that the first step has a green check mark. Then, select the second step, 'Take a scan of yourself'.

2g. Follow the steps on-screen to ensure that the camera can read your face. As soon as the camera has captured your face, you will be automatically moved onto the next step.

2h. The final step to finish up the sign-up process is to verify your lease. Enter your information into the fields listed and press 'Continue'.

2i. You're all set! Congratulations! Remember, you can always reach out to us at [email protected] for any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

3. IF your property management company has referred you to the Credit Engine program but is not including it with their resident benefit package:

3a. Navigate to the Credit Engine home screen. You can find this by selecting the text 'Piñata benefits' at the top of the home screen.

3b. Select the button 'Activate now'.

3c. You will be given two options. The first is to sign up for free credit reporting. The free credit reporting program will submit your on-time rent payments to one credit bureau, TransUnion. The second option is to sign up for Premium credit building, which will report your rent payments to all 3 credit bureaus. If you wish to sign up for the premium credit building, select, 'Subscribe for $4/month'.

Note* - If you choose the free credit reporting option, click here for instructions on how to sign-up.

3e. If you chose the premium credit building option, you will be redirected to a page that will ask for your Personal Identifying Information. Fill out the required fields, then select 'Go to payment'.

3f. On the next screen, enter your payment information, then select, 'Subscribe for $4/month'.

3g. You're all set! You are now signed up for premium credit building and your monthly rent payments will be reported to all 3 credit bureaus. Congratulations!
