Can my credit score have a negative impact when signing up for Piñata?
Can my credit score have a negative impact when signing up for Piñata?
Updated over a week ago

Piñata only reports on-time rent payments so we are here to increase the score!

It's important to note that when rent payments start being reported, there could be a small, temporary drop in your credit score. This is due to a new trade line opening on your credit report.

However, the impact varies for different renters based on their overall credit profile. Rest be assured, this initial dip should be temporary, and as we continue to report positive payments, the benefits will grow significantly! As the trade line matures, it should have an increasingly positive effect on your score.

If you've noticed a significant drop in your score, it's worth investigating any other recent changes in your credit profile, such as late or missed payments on credit cards, loans, or bills or high credit utilization (using a large portion of your available credit) or recent applications for new credit (multiple hard inquiries).

To get a clear picture, we'd recommend obtaining a free copy of your credit report from each of the major bureaus. Review these carefully for any inaccuracies.
